The Social Science Reseach Institute at the University of Iceland is conducting a research programme under the leadership of Professor Hannes H. Gissurarson on taxation and welfare. Several conferences are planned where Icelandic and foreign scholars will discuss this topic, and two volumes of conference papers will be published. The foreign scholars who will give papers include two Nobel Laureates in Economics, Edward C. Prescott and Gary S. Becker, and the well-known American economist Arthur Laffer, the author of the Laffer Curve.
Admission is open to all and free of charge.
